Online shoppers and lovers of Instagram can finally rejoice.
Why? Well, shopping your favorite products while simultaneously browsing through Instagram Stories might just be about to get a whole lot easier.
Businesses selling physical goods online are constantly met with the challenge of trying to decide “where is the best place to acquire new customers?”.
For a long time, Instagram has been labeled as the social media platform that was great for building a brand, but it always seemed like a challenge to turn those followers into loyal customers.
With more than 400 million people now using Instagram Stories every single day, it was only a matter of time before Instagram built tools that made the process of going from your feed, to an external website to make a purchase, more streamlined and user friendly.
Last month, Instagram rolled out and expanded to businesses in 46 countries the shoppable stickers in Stories.
Now the e-commerce brands have the ability to tag products in Instagram Stories and with just 3 taps, their followers will be able to go from their Story, to the add to cart section on their website.
When watching a story, your followers will be able to tap on each sticker to get more information about that product, if they want to find out more, they can tap the sticker again, and it will direct that user to a product page.

Shopping Made Easy with the New Shoppable Instagram Stories Stickers
Shopping through Instagram Stories isn’t an entirely new concept, before shoppable stickers was released, many brands had already turned their stories into lead gen machines by adding product URL’s and “shop now” CTAs in their stories, the only problem with this was, you needed to have 10,000 followers or more to avail of the feature. The release of story stickers will now democratise this and make it available to all businesses on the platform.
We’ve all seen regular shoppable posts that allow businesses to tag products on their main feed, well, this new feature is basically the Stories version of that.
Businesses are able to tag physical products from inventory or their e-commerce platform. When you click on an item in Instagram, you’re able to view the item name, price, and description.
Shoppable stickers can be placed on both images and videos, and there are 4 different types of stickers: a shopping bag icon, a sticker with the product name in rainbow or grey, and translucent text.
As we mentioned above, right now, this Story feature is available in 46 countries such as: United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Brazil, Sweden, Netherlands, Argentina, Mexico, New Zealand, Switzerland, Puerto Rico, Ireland, South Africa, Belgium, Austria, Peru, Uruguay, Paraguay, Malta, Ecuador, Panama, Portugal, Poland, Greece, Cyprus, Denmark, Czech Republic, Romania, Norway, Hungary, Bulgaria, Croatia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovenia, Luxembourg, Dominican Republic, Belize, Korea and Japan.
All the approved businesses in these countries can access the shoppable stickers.
The answer to that is simple, if you haven’t already optimized your main feed for shoppable posts, we suggest to do so right away. It is not confirmed, but making your feed shoppable right now, will more than likely give you automatic access to shoppable story stickers as soon as the feature is released.
Another great question! There are a few boxes to tick in order for your business to be eligible for shoppable posts.
We’ve listed them below:
